In the years that followed, Michael’s sons, George, Brendan and Patrick joined the business and grew it into one of the most respected main contracting firms in the West of Ireland.
They developed strong and enduring working relationships with indigenous Irish and multinational businesses and state bodies such as IDA Ireland. They carried out main contracting work on various types of construction projects from industrial, pharmaceutical, banking, commercial and restoration works.
In the 1970’s the brothers set about expanding their business interests into the commercial property sector. This expansion included the acquisition of two well-known properties in Galway city; Island House at Cathedral Square and Mayoralty House on Flood Street. They restored both these properties as commercial offices.
In the late 1990’s the business was expanded internationally into Eastern Europe. The business has international operations in Serbia, Latvia and Lithuania. Today, this third generation business is assisted by a strong management team which includes grandchildren of Michael Conroy.
