CPR Training as part of Construction Safety Campaign

Those who are taught CPR are 10 times more likely to respond appropriately in an emergency.

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) launched its annual Construction Safety Campaign this month, running from October 14th – 25th. This year’s campaign focuses on raising awareness of critical risks on-site—activities that workers engage in that, if not properly controlled, could result in severe injury or fatality.

There is a responsibility for companies to identify the key risks prevalent in the workplace, build awareness and develop initiatives to mitigate them. The CIF partnered with the Irish Heart Foundation in their campaign, ‘Hands for Life’. Construction firms nationwide were encouraged to arrange CPR training, highlighting the importance of heart health as a critical risk in the industry, and most importantly, ensuring a prompt response in emergencies of cardiac arrest.

This week, workers and contractors of MJ Conroy undertook CPR training with Croí at Boston Scientific Galway, where we learned this simple and critical skill.

We would like to extend our thanks to CIF and the Irish Heart Foundation for their work on this initiative, and of course the teams at Croí and Boston Scientific Galway for facilitating the workshop.
