For over eight decades, MJ Conroy has acted as the main contractor, developer and financier on multi-million-euro design and build projects, predominantly in the commercial, pharmaceutical and ICT sectors. On completion of many of these projects, we have worked closely on the fit-out of the facilities to the exacting requirements of clients like Hewlett Packard, Oracle, Boston Scientific, Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Medtronic, Covidien, Baxter, IDA Ireland and Merit Medical.

MJ Conroy offers an integrated facilities management service, covering day-to-day maintenance, repair and upgrade of commercial and pharmaceutical buildings. Our turnkey solution provides a single point of contact, incorporating our extensive in-house capabilities with those of closely associated specialist contractors.

At MJ Conroy, we endeavour to examine construction technology developments on an ongoing basis with the aim of introducing these developments within our own day-to-day operations, as well as offering them to clients where we believe they will be of benefit by way of cost, quality, business advantage, environment, energy or health and safety compliance.

We are delighted to be associated with this open space conference that will have real influence on national policy in Ireland.

Hewlett Packard LEED Certification

MJ Conroy worked with the client, Hewlett Packard, on the design and build of the company's new three-storey 8000m2 office and computer facility in Ballybrit, Galway. The new building was designed and built in accordance with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, one of the most popular green building certifications used worldwide. This internationally recognised certification provides third-party verification that a building is designed and built using strategies aimed at improving environmental performance in areas such as energy savings, water efficiency and improving overall environmental quality.

The certification process began at the design stage, through the construction phase of the shell and core building, until the final fit-out phase. View project details.

Boston Scientific TriGen (Combined Heat and Power) Project

This project involved the construction of new CHP Tri-Generation plant at Boston Scientific’s Galway campus. MJ Conroy was responsible for all civil works on this project, working closely with Kirby Group as the lead contractor. The project delivered substantial energy cost savings for the Galway plant by using innovative technologies for onsite generation of electrical heating and cooling in one process.

The outcome of this project saw it supporting an additional 38% of the site’s electrical needs, 33% cooling and 20% heating, with a 12.7% reduction in CO2 emissions. View project details.
